ARTHRITIS is a source of pain and concern to many people, leading to worry about a loss of active ability.  Patients are often surprised at how well their arthritic condition responds to osteopathic treatment, reasoning that nothing can be done to repair the wear they’ve been told they have.  In many cases the patient will have had wear in the joint for some years, but the pain has only been present for a few weeks, so the simple equation “wear equals pain” doesn’t hold up.  By working to gently ease muscles, improve function in the affected joint as well as those around it, and helping to reduce painful inflammation, considerable relief can often be obtained.  Whichever joint is the problem, the principle is the same.
